In the year 1807, they city of Rashid is under attack by the British forces. Harfoush, a brave knight must deliver a message to the ruler of Egypt to demand military aid in order to resist the enemy. After killing some soldiers, he finds himself in a cave with a wise old man who tells him about his destiny. When Harfoush wakes up he realizes that he is now at the gates of Cairo except it is the year 1998...

It has been 25 years since the ore spaceship Siberia was last heard from. Unfortunately, it is now on a collision course with the communications station Comstat 5 which is orbiting Mars. After one successful maneuver to avoid the Siberia, it rams Comstat 5 and the crew soon finds that the Siberia crew is dead and the reason that it has been missing for 25 years. But that reason is trying to destroy them all as it destroyed the Siberia crew.

However, they're better known C universe-wide, in fact C as the 'Dirty Pair', a moniker they're not fond of. Their arrival at the scene is always a source of hope and dread, since they always solve the case, but wherever they go, something gets destroyed, up to and including entire planets. Luckily for them C but not so much for the universe C there's typically some extenuating circumstances that support their oft-uttered phrase, "It's not our fault".
