In the mid-1950s, with a grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department, wild bird trainer Ed Durden and his eighteen-year-old son, Kent Durden, capture a young golden eagle on a mountain near Santa Barbara, California. They name her Lady and house her in a specially constructed mountaintop aerie.

Lynn lives with her husband Arturo on an island off the coast of Spain. Everything looks normal except for the fact that Arturo suffers from a disease that makes him sexually impotent. Frustrated, Lynn has an affair with a local youth, and she soon discovers that she is pregnant. She needs to get rid of the baby very quickly so that Arturo doesnt know shes cheating on him, but abortion being illegal, she doesnt know where to go. There is this old local woman who aborts young women, but the risk taken on life is big, as hygiene conditions are very low. There is also this strange doctor, a friend of Arturo, but hell agree to do the operation only if Lynn has sex with him.
